I would have appreciated doing more PCR and gel electrophoresis tests to confirm the results of a decrease in gene expression after DNA damage as the resulting data isn’t ideal for reaching a conclusive answer as the controls were not consistent.
While Hydroxy Urea is the default for ensuring DNA damage, I’m sure if I really wanted to make sure DNA damage has occurred, usage of a variety of dsDNA breaking chemicals could have been used with radiation being a last resort.
If you had more time what other experiments would you have liked to have done?

What methods could you use to ensure DNA damage?
