  1. I thought this was a great presentation! You didn’t include any unnecessary details and seemed very knowledgeable of the topic. Overall the poster looks great too.

  2. what are specific examples of the ways in which a cell can be damaged and its DNA is denatured?

    1. DNA can become damaged because of harmful mutagenic chemicals that a cell or organism may become exposed to because of their environment. A specific example of this could be carcinogenic smoke.

    1. In the future I could design the primers differently so that they did not only flank exons and would be completely complementary to bases flanking the introns.

    1. When DNA is left damaged it often results in dysfunctional proteins, and can cause cell death. Additionally, in humans there is a correlation between DNA damage that is unrepaired and the development of neurodegenerative diseases or disorders.

    1. I am not exactly sure what determines how genes for Tetrahymena thermophila are named, but all of the genes studied in our lab followed this same naming pattern.
