  1. How are the positive and negative controls helpful in reading your results, what are they showing that is significant?

    1. Hey Kendall! Our negative controll was helpful when reading our results becuase it allowed us to conclude that since there was no band expression in the UT-RT lanes there was no contamination!

  2. How would you go about singling out what Upec does during T. thermophilia conjugation? What experiments would you do, and what would be your first step?

    1. Hey Kaitlyn! To single out what Upec does during T. therm conjugation we could complete a gene knockout to knockout a specific porition of the gene allowing us to analyze what lost its function.

  3. Meghan, that was a great presenation! T therm does have a very unique and interesting ability. Why do you think it is able to cut its own genome when it mates and why do you think it is allowed this ability over other organisms?

    1. Hey Kathrine thank you! T. therm does have a very unique ability and this is due to the fact that it has a the ability to preform both forward and reverse genetics as well as having both micro and macronucleuses!

  4. Hey Kendall! Our negative controll was helpful when reading our results becuase it allowed us to conclude that since there was no band expression in the UT-RT lanes there was no contamination!

  5. This was very well done! What future directions would you advise for someone who would maybe want to replicate this experiment?
