    1. Reverse transcriptase was used as it converts RNA (something that can’t be used as a template in PCR) to cDNA (something that can be used as a template in PCR). We wanted to measure gene expression (mRNA levels), so we had to convert the RNA to cDNA.

  1. Do you know why RT-PCR didn’t give expected results? Was it due to experiment error was there something wrong in the gel itself?

    1. Very likely that it was due to human error – the evidence from the controls suggests that most of the PCR was set up correctly but perhaps the lanes weren’t loaded correctly.
