  1. why did you choose your compound over something else that acts as an inhibitor? does it just attack cancer cells, and something else attacks all cells?

    1. It was chosen because of it’s toxicity and new promising results showing anti onco properties. It’s targeting system isn’t just limited to cancer.

    1. I think the best results would come from testing different concentrations again, but this time change the solvent to something other than DMSO and see if that affects the results in any way.

    1. The actual plant Black Cumin seed or Nigella sativa has been used for a long time in the herbal medicinal world. Recently isolation techniques have been used to extract Thymoquinone. The extract itself exhibited anti onco properties which led us to choose THQ.

  2. What does it mean for something to be a microtubular inhibitor? What effect does that have?

    1. A microtubular inhibitor inhibits receptors on the surface of a cell. Microtubules are important to the cell because they are used in process such as transportation, cell shape, and mitosis. When inhibited, it can help induce cell apoptosis (death).

  3. Why did you use the Drosophila melanogaster larvae as a model organism over any other organism?

    1. The Drosophila Melanogaster was chosen as our model organism because of how closely they represent cells. Also taking ethics into account, fruit flies and other invertebrates are not considered the same as testing in mammals and other live organisms. They are also relatively inexpensive to maintain and are fast reproducing organisms.
