The research is important so that DNA damage doesn’t accumulate in the cell and cause future issues/ diseases. It mainly focuses on the repair genes/ proteins that are important for the repair pathway.
If Twi7 has a role in Single Strand Break repair, as mentioned in your future directions, what would be the implications of that? Why is that important to determine?
I would assume that it would be similar to what we see here in this experiment. We could measure expression of the gene at the sites of Single stranded breaks to determine if Twi 7 is recruited in the repair pathway. This would be important to once again seeing what the role of Twi 7 in terms of the repair pathway (to prevent accumulation of DNA damage).

I can’t be 100% sure of that, but I wouldn’t see why not!
