Hi Abi, Ideally the experiment would expand to more complex organism. Using more complex organism will provide more relevance to the human mechanism of DNA repair. At this time I am unsure of the exact organism I’d include in this study.
Hi Andy, I am not certain about Twi8, however I do know that PIWI proteins family is found in a wide range of organisms including insects, and mammals.
Hi Katelyn, It seems that Twi8 is upregulated by DNA double strand breaks. The expression is dependent on if there is double stranded breaks, not on the stimuli.
Do you think that the vibrance/thickness of the band presented on the untreated cDNA is any indication of how the use of Twi8 differs in different types of DNA?
Hi Logan, cDNA does not occur naturally so Twi8 would only be used in it gDNA form if that makes since. cDNA is made from reverse transcriptase. The reason that the gDNA band is brighter than the cDNA band is its possible that reverse transcriptase was not fully effective in making cDNA.
