Hypedc3 showed higher levels of gene expression during conjugation like other genes involved in repair leading to the hypothesis that Hypedc3 could potentially be involved in the DNA damage response.

There are different kinds and intensities of DNA damage and yes some can cause nonfunctional protiens and cell death

I am not sure what you mean by error rate but I assume unsuccessful DNA repair can lead to cancer
