I think this procedure worked very well for what we were trying to do. I don’t really know enough about the topics involved to be able to design my own, better, experiment, so I think it was great to obtain the intended result.
We would need to do experiments like knocking out the gene to see its function or a protein localization experiment to see its actual location in the cell during DNA damage.
It seems like this protein is most likely either a guide or signaling protein, so maybe the cell would have trouble locating the double strand breaks in the DNA and it wouldn’t be repaired properly.
Considering that the gene/protein in focus contribute to gene repair, what type of experiments would you perform to determine the locality and specific function of the protein in gene repair?
We would perform a localization experiment by tagging the protein so we could view its location. We could knock it out to see what happens when it isn’t there to determine its exact function.
You say in your future direction that you would perform protein localization experiments. Do you know what protein you would be looking for, or what experiment you would perform?
What would you change in your procedure or experiment in general to improve ir and make it even better?

What is your hypothesis on what would happen if you completely knocked this gene out of a healthy cell and a cell with damaged DNA?
