One disease in-particular would be Cockayne system in which DNA damage causes genetic disorder and can in turn cause abnormal head size, and other delayed developments of an individual.

This is not necessarily normal, genomic makeup usually tend to have homologs. This could be due to several scenarios one of which could be that this particular gene is only found and/or expressed in T.Thermophila.
