All we know through this project is that Cory does not have a DNA repair function. If we look further into the name, it has ribonuclease y activity meaning it likely has some function regarding RNA degradation, however that was not centered in this project.
What motivated you to study gene repair? Since you mentioned radiation as an example of something damaging to humans, are you motivated by an interest in performing x-rays in the future?
Gene repair was what my class focused on. While it sounds interesting, performing x-rays are not what I feel motivated by. The major motivation for this research lies in the reinvention of cancer treatment. Radiation treatment (IR) can induce DNA double stranded breaks which the human genome can not easily repair.
Interesting central inquiry.

How could you tell whether or not a hairpin structure was formed with Cory?

When we used the Primer 3 Plus to analyze the primer characteristics this was one piece of information it provided.
