    1. Each section of our lab researches multiple different genes and Twi7 was our assignment for the semester.

    1. I wouldn’t say I was surprised Twi7 isn’t essential in DNA damage repair. Few genes are known to have an effect on DNA damage repair so I would have been pleasantly surprised if it did.

  1. What can you do for future experiments with the knowledge that the cDNA was not showing bands with Twi7?

  2. Great presentation! Why do you believe it would not be necessary to move forward with research of Twi7 with adult cells?

    1. After getting my results and seeing no expression of Twi7 in cDNA, I did some research on piwi genes and found out that other researchers observed no expression of Twi7 either. To get amplification of Twi7, one paper mentioned they had to extract RNA from growing cells. For this reason I think Twi7 research on its possibility in assisting with DNA damage repair shouldn’t be necessary. In other branches of research, Twi7 may be essential for other roles.

  3. Great Poster! I am curious though why you would not move forward with conducting research of Twi7 towards all cells or just specifically adult cells?

    1. The goal of our research was to find genes that was essential to DNA damage repair. The most used method of this research is trial and error. Find a gene you want to check, go through this method and determine whether it’s significant.
