    1. Yes, sorry if I didn’t clarify but because our gene showed a higher expression after damage was induced the hypothesis was supported because the gene is then involved in the DNA damage response pathway.

  1. I think you did a great job explaining! Sorry if I missed it, but was your hypothesis supported by your results?

  2. I thought your presentation was very interesting! I was wondering how this could be applied to increasing human longevity in the future?

    1. This could help in increasing longevity of a human life by not allowing for mutations in the DNA which could lead to cancer and it could help keep the telomeres longer because the DNA would be less damaged and more could be retained during each round of replication.

    2. This can increase longevity by not allowing for mutations that can lead to diseases and with further research it might be able to have less telomere disappear after replication.

  3. Hey Adi! I enjoyed learning and hearing about your research. You results indicate that Rfc1 is involved in DNA damage repair. Was it determined how long after DNA damage it takes for the expression of this gene to increase? If not, do you think this could be a potential area of future research, as it may be determined where Rfc1 lies in gene repair pathways?

    1. The organism can completely replicate itself in 24 hours which would most likely be the same amount of time that it would take for the damage to be fully in the DNA but I do not know exactly how much time it takes. It could possibly be tested, however because there are more than just RFC-1 involved in the damage repair pathway it would take a lot of gene editing to determine at which exact stage RFC-1 acts in. I however would not find this to be a super necessary area for future research because in most organisms it is more than one gene in the repair pathway.

    1. yes, Rad51 is similar to RFC-1 because they are both involved in the DNA repair pathway and both present in two peaks when put under DNA damage
