Hello Julia! They used it for a lot of sicknesses, the most common we found were coughs, congestion, fevers and other more “common” ailments. I believe it is also thought to help with heart health and other spiritual benefits.
Hi Jacob! I found the background of your research very interesting and definitely learned new things! Why do you think the absorbance of the Osha Root was more than the DMSO?
Hello Devika! So the root is found in the Rocky Mountains mostly, in the forest areas. When I looked it up I was amazed because you see it everywhere if you go hiking. It’s the tall flower looking plant with white blooms!
The primary uses were soreness, cold symptoms (coughs, congestion) and I had seen it being used to place on wounds.
Hello Brennyn! So something in the Osha root extract is causing it to promote bacterial growth. What was odd is that at the higher dose is when we saw the most growth, where as the lower doses it was under the DMSO. So I believe that there is a compound in Osha root, that with enough of the extract promotes growth, overpowering a compound that inhibits growth.
What did the Native Americans use the Osha Root Extract to treat?
