The benefit of an antibiotic being bacteriostatic is that it inhibits bacterial growth, allowing the body’s immune system time to kill the bacteria. Unfortunately, as far as I know, bacteriostatic antibiotics haven’t been able to be modified to permanently kill bacteria.
