Hi Kayla! I do not think there are any human studies done using cuttlefish ink as antibiotic since there are not proven antibacterial properties in the compound so far.
We do not know exactly why it was lower than the other concentrations because the max dose was expected to have the lowest absorbance, but maybe the 5% concentration is the most effective for this much bacteria.
Good presentation. For your future directions, do you think running a different concentration of ethanol or even a different negative control would be a good option to run with or would you rather keep the same concentration and just look for more consistency. Also, for your future directions, would you also potentially run cuttlefish ink against different strains of bacteria to see the effects?
Yes! We did think about using a different concentration of ethanol after the first adjustment, but due to time constraints we could not. We ran so many negative controls to get more consistency so I think the next step would be to change the ethanol concentration. I am not sure if we would use different strains of bacteria mainly because it is not something we have discussed.
Thank you Devika! I think if we had more time I would have liked to explore different concentrations of ethanol to find a more suitable negative control to get better results from our dose dilutions.
Very well done. I was wondering if there are any case studies involving this sort of treatment done with humans?

Do you know why Dose 2 had a significantly lower absorbance than the other doses?

Hey I think you did so good! If you had more time is there anything you would’ve done differently?
