Hi! Yes, so only lytic phage can be used during phage therapy because lysogenic phage may simply lie “dormant” inside their host bacteria, allowing it to continue replicating, whereas lytic phage immediately lyse the bacterial cell as soon as enough lysins are produced.
In the future, I would simply just like to continue archiving more to continue expanding the archive. I would also like to DNA sequence my phage, since I wasn’t able to this semester.
Yes! Temperate phage can either undergo the lytic or lysogenic life cycle. They can lyse the bacterial host cell as soon as enough lysins are produced OR they can integrate themselves into the bacterial DNA and replicate when the bacterial host itself replicates.
I’m actually not super sure how different phage subclusters would affect their uses for medical treatments. Each subcluster has similar sequences of DNA and helps with the identification and quantification of phage. I’m sure that certain subclusters must be better for phage therapy, however, I don’t know the specifics.
Hi Elias! Is there a benefit to using lytic or lysogenic phage in phage therapy?

Can you elaborate on what a temperate morphology is in a phage?

Hi Elias! How does the subcluster of a phage affect its properties and especially how the subcluster determines its use for medical treatment.
