It is important because if we learn more about their physiology we can potentially start to use them for phage therapy and to find cures to illnesses and diseases.
Hello! Great job on your presentation and poster! 🙂 For my own curiosity, could you explain a little bit more about the importance of lytic cycles vs. lysogenic cycles?
The lytic cycle destroys the host cell where the lysogenic cycle does not destroy the host cell. The importance of them is that knowing the life cycle can help categorize and figure out what cluster it belongs to. Also knowing the lifecycle helps determine if they phage is suitable for phage therapy
Why is it important to learn more about phages and their physiology?

What category is your phage in? How are phages assigned a category?

We were not able to get far enough to assign it to a category. They do get placed by their genome similarities.

How would you get a fully accurate length (i.e. not have it warped)?

If we would have had more time, we would most likely have redone that experiment.
