We would want to complete the genome sequence to confirm that our phage truly belongs in Cluster F. Then this genome sequence would be able to provide information about characterization and allow comparisons between other known bacteria that may be effective against other bacteria.
Since we weren’t able to get our EM picture we don’t know a lot of information about our phage morphology so we aren’t really sure if it will have a big or small burst area. Additionally, we would most likely have to do a few more experiments to actually calculate the burst size.
Nothing would really happen if a different enzyme was used. Instead the comparison would change slightly as the enzyme produces cuts, thus using phage tools (the comparison tool we used) we would have to input the different enzymes and it would pull up comparison data based upon the new enzymes to determine our phage cluster
Bacteriophages will not affect healthy microbiomes because they are designed to only be able to infect a specific type of bacteria. Thus, leaving the healthy microbiome intact.
How does genome sequencing work to show what bacteria the phage is effective on?
