For example, if we were to genetically modify a soybean to be able to produce a theraputic drug, you wouldnt want it to cross pollinate wild type soybeans and have that theraputic drug end up in different foods we consume.
The RUBY marker binds the same way we implimented the other gene that codes for RNAi. The RUBY gets added into the vector via specific irreversible cut sites, through a process called Golden Gate. If you google “golden gate” an image will show up of an insert going into a vector. The final e. coli vector that gets implimented into the soybeans will contain the gene that codes for RNAi, promoter, terminator, and RUBY, all of which were added to the vector via golden gate.
Genetically modified crops have the potential to produce many proteins and enzymes such as supplements human bodies lack and cancer drugs. by being able to prevent the cross pollination among the genetically modified crops it will allow the farmers to feel more safe about growing genetically modified crops as there wouldnt be as much liability.

why do you think farmers should be more open to genetically modifying crops?
