If mutations are present in the genome then the RNA construct will not work properly in soybeans to down regulate Phytochrome A. If a mutation is present we would need to select new white colonies to resequenced until mutations are not present.
RNAi is a reversible technique where as gene knockout is irreversible. It is beneficial for closed flowers to be reversible because not all experiments may be compatible with a closed flower.
