  1. How might you be able to further investigate Tetco61 to learn more about Tetrahymena thermophila in your future directions?

    1. An example would be seeing where Tetco61 functions or where it is transported in the cell (such as the mitochondria, nucleus, or cytoplasm). This is beneficial to further characterize its gene expression profile.

    1. Tumors and cancers use DNA damage repair mechanisms to survive drugs like chemotherapy, which produces excessive DNA damage for these cells. So, further investigating genes that are involved with DNA repair is beneficial to adjust chemotherapy, or other drugs, in order to find a way to get around cancer’s DNA repair pathways.

    1. Learning and researching about Tetco61 is beneficial to develop drugs and medical treatments that stop DNA repair genes (maybe tetco61) that cancer and tumor cells use.

  2. I’m curious as to how you developed your research question and experimental process. Have similar experiments to yours been conducted?

    1. Genes like Rad51, which we used as one of our controls, is a gene that has been found to be involved in DNA damage repair in T. therm. Other genes involved in DNA repair pathways in other organisms have been discovered as well, but most of the genes involved in these pathways remain unknown which is why we conducted the research.

  3. What kind of medication or treatment do you think this would work best for if it is successful?
