  1. You said that future experiments would be to discover the actual function of the gene, so I was wondering…what kind of experiments would allow you to learn this?

    1. It would be similar experiments to this one! You could measure expression of this gene in altered cells and compare its activity to known genes that are upregulated in those altered cells.

  2. For your future experiment of figuring out what your gene’s actual function is, would it be a similar process such as the one you did for this experiment for its involvement in the DNA repair process?

    1. Yes it would! It would involve something like measuring this gene’s expression in altered cells and comparing it to genes with known functions that are upregulated under certain conditions.

    1. This gene is known to create a protein known as a AAA ATPase, and other similar AAA ATPase genes have a direct role in DNA damage repair. It’s a different gene that produces a similar protein, basically. Hope this helps!
