    1. I would want to test some of the small regulatory molecules involving homologous recombination, however the idea with the co-immunoprecipitation experiment is to discover what proteins Hypzif’s protein product interacts with. The identity of those proteins will then, hopefully, indicate what role Hypzif’s protein product plays in the cell.

  1. How do you plan on using the results from the co-immunoprecipitation experiments? Do you think the results can change depending on what conditions the gene is expressed under?

    1. I think that the results would change with different conditions because different genes will be expressed. The hope is to identify the protein that Hypzif interacts with so we could more definitely identify what pathway Hypzif’s protein product is involved in.

  2. Based on what you know so far what do you think a possible function of hypzif is, and would it become detectable if used alongside similar protiens to RAD51?

    1. zinc fingers have a wide variety of functions however the NF-X1 zinc finger type is thought to mediate DNA binding in humans. Given that Rad51 is expressed under DNA damage and Hypzif is not, it may not be detectable.

  3. Great presentation! Based on all your knowledge of hypzif, what other proteins could you see it detected with?
