    1. We decided to look into the Cory gene for our research because it had a similar gene expression pattern to genes known to play a role in DNA damage repair, like Rad51. Oftentimes, when genes have similar functions they also have similar expression. We wanted to further explore these similarities through this research, however we couldn’t prove that the Cory gene played a role in DNA damage repair.

  1. Does the Cory gene play any other vital roles in the body that aren’t mentioned here?

    1. From my understanding, the function of the gene is unknown. We conducted this experiment because this gene has similar gene expression to genes that are known to play a role in DNA damage repair. We thought the similarity of this gene expression might mean they have similar functions, however we couldn’t prove that in our experiment.

  2. Would the next step be to look at a different gene (other than the cory gene) to see how that plays a role in DNA damage repair?

    1. That is a possible next step that we can take, however I would personally want to look into the Cory gene and really uncover the function of it.
