    1. Thanks for your question! DNA damage is actually a very broad term because it comes in so many forms. The reason why the response mechanism is so difficult to research is because it’s a huge umbrella term that involves tens of thousands of genes, each of which require lots of time and effort to study.

  1. Why is the RPPO positive control band much bigger than the 14BGS gDNA band? Is that a good thing? You probably said it and I missed it.

    1. Thanks for the question! The RPP0 positive control band in the validation gel is probably brighter because the primer may have been in a higher concentration than the 14-BGS primer. In the primer validation experiment, the intensity of the bands aren’t too relevant because we’re just testing to see if 14-BGS is capable of binding and displaying a band, not expression levels.

    1. Thanks for your question! A primer is a short piece of DNA that will bind to either end of a gene and start polymerization (replication) of the gene during a polymerase chain reaction experiment
