  1. Hi! Why do you think the discovery of new antibiotics has slowed so much since the 80s?

    1. I couldn’t give you a complete answer but I know that new antibiotic classes require discovery of a new mechanism of action to inhibit bacteria and we’ve already found the most straight forward ways to attack bacteria which makes antibiotic development increasingly difficult.

  2. Great presentation!! One quick question though, what could an alternate method be to detect Salmonella concentration that doesn’t require absorbance values?

    1. I’m not sure what would be most effective but it is likely that some kind of assay could be useful.
