  1. Hello. How do you know that because it does not infect a salmonella type bacteria that this drug could cause a higher risk of bacterial infection in humans?

    1. Hi, I’m slightly confused on your question but my conclusions are derived from the fact that our compound was a growth promoter. This conclusion led me to hypothesize that an individual taking maprotaline hydrachloride would be susceptible to a more severe bacterial infection from S. Typhemerium.

    1. Hi Luke, tricyclic antibiotics are a pre-existing class of antibiotics. We thought that because tricyclic antibiotics already exist that tetracyclic compounds may work too.
