  1. You mentioned potentially wanting to pair your compound with other drugs, do you have any idea what drugs you would want to use?

    1. Most likely an Efflux pump inhibitor, as those usually increase the effectiveness of chemotherapeutics.

    1. Personally I think its due to dosage, we say a dose response curve, indicating that increasing dosage may be what we need to produce hits, or pairing it with an efflux pump inhibitor to avoid toxicity.

  2. How similar is larvae response to radiation compared to human response? Will Safranal also work synergistically with radiation in humans as it does with the larvae?

    1. While we wont know for sure until we test it on humans, fruit-fly response to chemotherptics and radiation and human cancer cells response are very similar as they have genetic similarities, whats why they make such a good model!

  3. Amazing poster! you mentioned that there was still some promising information and data from your experiments even though you didn’t have hits, do you think testing on different species/organisms will yield better results?

    1. Personally I think so! thats why i mentioned in my future directions and long term continuation of research that I think it would be fruitful to test safaranl on Invitro cancer cells themselves.

  4. Hi! Do you know why Safranal in particular effects cell apoptosis, and why it leaves normal cells undisturbed? What cellular properties or structures does Safranal have that helps it achieve its antioxidant effect?
