  1. do you think bacterial resistance could arise, similar to antibiotic resistance? If so, how would you think bacterial resistance could be avoided?

  2. Do you think bacterial resistance could arise, similar to antibiotic resistance? If so, how could bacterial resistance be prevented?

    1. (Only responding to one comment of the repeats) I think you may need a bit more context in the matter. The way bacteria develop resistances is through random mutations that allow it to survive when exposed to the antibiotic that kills the rest of the bacteria in, for instance, your body. That lone bacteria can then go onto repopulate a new generation of resistant bacteria which is what an antibiotic resistant infection is. The idea of a bacterial resistance just doesn’t make too much sense to me in terms of what is developing resistance to what and I don’t know if the question is viable.

  3. If you had more time to continue with this research, what specific antibiotic with a similar structure to maprotiline hydrochloride would you like to test?

    1. I’m sorry but I don’t think I can come up with another specific chemcial other than a general inhibitor classification. Finding the hits in the compound screen was already a long process and we were given promising leads to look into when we began.
