  1. Hey Hanna! Your presentation and poster came out great! My only question is pertaining to Figure 4. For the last sentence on the poster you mentioned “The bands are bright and clear”.. what does this mean for your data?

  2. Amazing Project! In the conclusion you mentioned that the phage could be genetically modified to become lytic and I was wondering what would make the phage lytic– like would it need to produce a certain protein or stimulus–. Also why can’t temperate phages be used therapeutically?

    1. Well a lytic phage goes through the lytic life cycle meaning that it completely lyses the bacterial cell making it more effective at killing that cell. And temperate phages can be used, just lytic phages are more effective.

  3. Great presentation! In your conclusion you stated that the phage could be used for therapy if it could enter the lytic cycle. Would that mean introducing a new stimulus, promoting the transcription of a certain protein, or altering the DNA. Also why would the phage need to be in the lytic cycle to be considered a candidate for therapy.

    1. I think that lytic phage are just better candidates, certainly not the only ones. They are just better and more effective at killing bacteria in a more complete way.

  4. Great job on your presentation! My question for you is this – is there a way to effectively use phages that undergo the lysogenic lifecycle as treatments for infections?

    1. Researchers have began to look into this because temperate phages are much more abundant than lytic phages and so looking into a way to alter them to be more effective at killing bacteria would help them be better as treatments.
